In his Introductory Lectures on Aesthetics, depressed overthinker George Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel writes things like:

“in this [Romantic] third stage the object (of art) is free, concrete intellectual being”

and I can’t help but hear in my head:

*Tim Robinson voice* “FREE and CONCRETE?!?! … WHAAT?!!”

Gif of Tim Robinson from the TV show "I Think You Should Leave" putting his hand to his head and going, "What?!"

It’s sad to think that no one ever gifted Hegel a paintbrush, some canvases, and a bunch of nice paints. (Or maybe he was too paralysed by (what today we identify as) perfectionism to try playing with them?) 🙁
